Very useful for observing a lap where a loss of control occurs, to see what was happening prior to the loss of control, and what happened when the loss of control occurred. This project should work for any car (not just the SRF) - there's no intricate math involved, just a simple "dashboard" arrangement to allow me to see tire temps (inner/middle/outer), tire pressures, brake/throttle/steering inputs, gear selected, lateral and logitudinal Gs, shock deflection and ride heights, and wheel speeds and potential lockup details all on a single screen.įIGURE 1: Going into "Yard Sale Corner" (T5) at Summit Point, the chart above shows that I'm seeing potential lock-up on my left front and left rear tires under hard braking.īy observing my car position on the track map, I can see where I'm pulling the most Gs, generating higher (or lower) tire temps, watch my tire pressure state, and observe whether my shocks are bottoming out or fully decompressed, and whether or not my car might be bottoming out as well. I have applied a bit of logic to show tire lockup - this basically just transitions to red when the actual ground speed < 1 but wheel speed = 0 (more or less) Not a whole lot of logic applied here, just a nice 'dashboard' view that allows me to see everything at once at a glance. I have the bar graphs color-coded so that they transition from green to yellow to red to give me an easy visual indication of where my hot spots are occurring. The only reason I'm using bar graphs for the tire temps is because it allows me to see at any point in time what my Inner / Middle / Outer temps are doing on all four tires. This is a neat little MoTeC project I created to help me better understand ride heights, damper motion, wheelspin or lockup, and tire temps in iRacing.
